Laura is a counselling intern at Brentwood Counselling Center who is currently completing her Master of Social Work at UBC with a clinical counselling focus.
Laura believes that we are not meant to do life alone. She is a warm, open-minded, and relational person who comes alongside others in their struggles. Laura enjoys helping clients find their voice, develop their sense of self, and take the next best step towards healing and wellness. She is passionate about social justice and building safe spaces that foster connection and belonging.
Laura has over 10 years’ experience as a Registered Social Worker. She has supported individuals struggling with various presenting issues including depression, anxiety, grief, loneliness, acute and chronic illness, ageing, relationship struggles, divorce, abuse, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and immigration and transition to a new country. In addition, Laura has over 17 years experience working with youth.
Laura has studied individual and family therapy, psychodynamic therapy and is a trauma informed Certified Expressive Art Therapist. She offers the opportunity to explore movement and creative expression in her sessions, alongside talk therapy. No artistic experience is required. Laura provides the gifts of the arts to hold space for both our deepest suffering and greatest joy.
