Jennifer is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and holds a Master of Counselling degree. She has been an educator at both BCIT and LaSalle College (formerly the Art Institute) where she lectured on a variety of Psychology and Human Behaviour courses. In addition, Jennifer has a background in immigrant services, supporting newcomers’ transition to their new life in Canada.
Jennifer works extensively with clients who are recovering from trauma, depression, and grief. She also helps clients work through a variety of relationship issues as well as coping with guilt, shame, and anxiety. Her approach is to create a warm, empathic, and nonjudgmental environment for her clients where they will feel supported and heard.
She has training in several counselling modalities, and is especially proficient in evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).
Prior to working in private practice, Jennifer was a counsellor in a post-secondary setting where she met with students to deal with challenges such as perfectionism, anxiety, depression, stress, and childhood trauma. As students worked through the demands of higher education, Jennifer provided support to them working through family, relationships, and bullying among other concerns.
Jennifer loves the counselling profession as it affords her the opportunity to walk with her clients through life’s many challenges and work on solutions that lead to permanent change.
