Have you had any of these types of thoughts over the last few weeks or months?
If so, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) may be the right choice for you.
EMDR specialist Gary Quinn, M.D. has designed a specific protocol for this pandemic to help clients with these self-defeating thoughts called Self-Care Procedure for Coronavirus (SCP-C).
He has classified these self-defeating thoughts into 2 types:
Type 1: Negative Thoughts associated with feelings of anxiety, helplessness, panic, fear, anger, isolation such as the following: “I cannot handle this.” “I am not in control.” “I am helpless.”
Type 2: Negative Thoughts associated with feelings of guilt, inadequacy, regret such as the following: “It is my fault that my family/ friends got coronavirus.” “I did something wrong.” “I should have known better.
If those thoughts feel familiar, I would like to help you feel more stable, be more tolerant of ambiguity and unpredictability, and adapt to this specific global situation.
